Super Raku, Going Fast
Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Culture || Tagged:
In the 16th century, Japanese potters figured out a nifty way to fire clay that created a glittery coating as if the vessels had been quickly dipped in liquid gold or silver. Since then, the raku process has become popular worldwide. Hawaii, and Honolulu in particular, have long produced top-quality raku-fired pottery that manages to look both simultaneously simply classic and wildly modern. July 28 and 29th are the last days of the week-long raku exhibition by the Hawaii Craftsmen. Located in Chinatown at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Don't miss.
