I was writing an article on driving the spectacular H-3 Interstate (Hawaii actually has three, all on Oahu) for a magazine and tooling around looking at images online when I stumbled across this site put together by Oscar Voss. It's probably the best scenic drive guide to Hawaii that I've seen. He has copious photos that really give a flavor of what its like to drive those roads (and I've driven all of the ones he covered multiple times). His commentary on the road conditions are informative, useful and generally correct (I differ on a few points but for the most part we agree). It's got a lot of good tips that a guidebook wouldn't capture -- such as where the rip current can be found at Red Sand Beach near Hana -- and, better, some images that clue you in on where to stop and look before it goes by in your rear window. Just for variety, here's another drive guide I like.
