We took the brood out for a bite this Sunday. While the meal at South Shore Grill was kinda "eh", the stop at Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream on Kapahulu Avenue near Waikiki was, as always, spectacularly fulfilling. For new readers, Hawaii has its own homegrown ice cream culture with some bizarre sounding flavors (poha berry waffle cone, anyone?) as well as some you'd expect (toasted macadamia nut). We'll make a point of talking about this more in future posts (um, gee, ya think we like ice cream, mebbe?) Suffice it to say that Dave's is one of the primo purveyors of da kine cold stuff. Definitely worth a pit stop if you see a Dave's shop. And bonus points -- Dave's pints are sold at Long's Drugstores in their freezer sections! If you live near a 24-hour Longs Drug Stores in Hawaii, you are stoked.
