I've done numerous stories mentioning windsurfing on Maui. It is the windsurfing capital of the world, with the most consistent breezes on Earth whipping through Hookipa on the North Shore. Maui is also a great place to learn, even for kids. When I spoke to the folks at Simmer Hawaii, a totally core windsurfing shop in Paia on the North Shore of Maui, the referred my request for lessons to HST Windsurfing. This is an extremely reputable outfit that runs three and four-day kids camps ($180-$235) during June, July and August. So while you're sipping MaiTais poolside, junior is learning to tack and jibe at Kanaha Beach Park and ripping it up for less than the price of hiring a hotel babysitter.
