Information overload. I'm not talking about 24-hour news, bleating cell phones, email chips implanted in your brain. No, I'm talking about surf reports. Yep, in Hawaii one thing you will never find in short supply are forecasts for what the surf is doing, will do, and where its doing what. Why? Obviously, an island is seriously impacted by the weather and the waves. It helps that Hawaii is home to, on a per capita basis, probably more water sports nuts than anywhere on the planet. So no surprise that even locals have trouble keeping track of all the ways they can check the waves. Here's a quick run-down.

My personal fave? Jono Knight'spage has a plethora of resources from buoy reports that allow you to predict wave heights to links to surf cams which actually show you the waves breaking at the beach, to sophisticated forecasts that require a bit of weather vocab to understand. Of course, you can get a pretty good read on the surf by tuning in to Guy Hagi on KGMB (he's the most surf friendly local teevee weatherman) or reading the local newspapers.
