Turtle Bay Resort Union Dispute Resolved
Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Hotels
The hotel workers union and management at the Turtle Bay Resort have apparently settled their differences. This is good news for locals and visitors alike, as the labor conflict has been acrimonious, with continuous picketing (including several instances where unions picketed weddings and events) and a running boycott. I love this resort; it's perhaps the most underated in the islands with five miles of ocean front, copious beaches for strolling, a wonderful swimming beach, great golf, a good beginners surf spot, and a real sense of blissful isolation that's hard to find even on neighbor island resorts. The food has been hit or miss; apparently, its been hard to keep their top chefs around. (Also, watch out for pool deck -- extremely slippery when wet). Almost all the rooms have ocean views, which is extremely rare. And the refurb the resort underwent over the past five years has really put a shine on the place.
