His restaurants, Singha Thai and Chai's Island Bistro, are home to some of the more interesting Thai cooking in Hawaii And Chef Chai Chaowasaree has made a name for himself eating his way around Honolulu as a voracious and jovial television host of his own program, "Dining Out with Chai" So we asked Chai where he eats when he's not cooking. Which turned out to be a hard question, since Chai's favorite hobby is -- surprise -- eating out at restaurants.

* Fook Yuen Seafood: "It's in McCully near Waikiki where I live. They are open until 4 a.m., which is good because I often have to work very late. They have a deal on Kona lobster for $9.95, which is probably about what it costs for them to buy the lobster wholesale. You can have them cook it in different styles -- salt-and-pepper, black bean sauce, garlic butter. They are all really good. You have to order one other thing to get the special and I love their dried scallops and egg-white fried rice." Map/Reviews.

* Hoku's: "Its fun to go to the Kahala Resort and to Kahala to get away. I love to hit their Sunday brunch buffet. The food is really good and the service is excellent. They have all-you-can-eat Maine lobster. I make my own dipping sauce for that, with lemon juice and sambal. If you make it a little bit spicier they you can eat a little bit more. Every time I eat there, when I leave I feel like I'm a pig. It's great." Map/Reviews.

* Hy's Steak House: "That's also in Waikiki so I can walk there from my house. I always order the same thing -- peppercorn steak. It's always really tasty. I order that and Bananas Foster and I always leave feeling happy. It's a chain but I really like it anyway." Map/Reviews.
