Outside Magazine ranks Haleiwa on Oahu's North Shore number 10 in its annual top list of Outside Towns. We concur but the author of this piece bizarrely suggests new arrivals should paddle out at Kammieland, eschewing the dozens of other excellent and eminently rideable lesser known breaks along the North Shore such as Jocko's, Lani's, Backyards, and Left-Overs in favor of one of the lamest and tamest. Huh?

P.S.: If you want to avoid the line at Kua Aina, the legendary sandwich joint, then call in your order. No line for take-out orders and then you don't have to park if someone is waiting in the car for you. Go eat at nearby Ali'i Beach and get a much better view.
