This is almost an obvious one to locals but virtually unknown to visitors, in part due to the untrafficked location of the two stores in Wailuku and Hilo. Sig Zane is a Big Island resident who makes some of the most beautiful fabric prints in the islands. (So beautiful that my designer PK ended up buying a hoodie -- his first piece of alohawear). Zane is best known for his aloha shirts, which are stellar. I love Zane's shirts because of the high quality of the fabrica and the muted colrations (Thomas Magnum would never wear one of these shirts). His are also the only aloha shirts I know of that are big but taper down to the waste for a sporty fit. Zane also makes wonderful, physique-neutral women's clothing, purses, and umbrellas. He makes extremely limited quantities of each fabric print so chances are you will be one of the few people walking the face of the Earth wearing that shirt. Their price point is totally in-line with other top-notch aloha shirts from Reyn Spooner and Tori Richard.
