This home-grown chain launched in 1983 on Maui and now has eight locations around the state. Blue Ginger sundresses are simple with muted colors and light floral patterns. Blue Ginger clothes, above all, are the opposite of garish, unlike most of the ghastly "resortwear" that graces Hawaii shops. The sundresses would work anywhere in the world but still evoke Hawaii, a deft design touch. The prices are extremely reasonable, with few pieces going for over $100 and sale prices knocking them down considerably further. Men's aloha shirts are , likewise, simple, clean, and totally wearable.
