Locals simply refer to these two stores as Native Books or Na Mea. Proprietor Maile Meyer runs what might be the most Hawaiian store in the islands with a full Hawaiiana book section, Ni'ihau shell jewelry, fine furniture and bowls made from local trees, and aloha wear that is both restrained and rarely found in other stores. The stores also have great selections of Hawaii food products in flavors like guava, mango, poha berry and lilikoi. I have rarely walked in and not found something fun to buy. My wife has *never* walked in and left empty-handed.
