Most of you have probably read about the quake that hit Hawaii yesterday. It was relatively minor for most of the islands but has had some serious impact on the Big Island and on the Kona (western) side of the island in particular. There is some major damage to roadways, in particular in the Hawi Area (North Kohala) and damage to buildings all up and down the coast. There is the possibility of landslides due to aftershocks in less geologically stable areas. I have not heard of any hotel closing and air travel appears to be normal. Will post an update as soon as I get info (FYI, we did not post yesterday b/c all of Oahu had no power until well into the evening and we didn't want to jam cell phone links with data traffic when people needed to call out).
