Cool Shops: The Gallery at Hilton Waikoloa Village

I stumbled upon this gallery in the massive resort in Waikoloa on the Kona-Kohala Coast of the Big Island when I was visiting this past weekend. It's packed with art, some of it cheesy but a lot of it quite striking and beautiful. The vast majority of the pieces, from turned Norfolk pine bowls to sculptures, to traditional landscapes to pschedelic oil paints of "rubbah slippahs" (local term for rubber sandals), are painted by residents of the Big Island. You could easily spend an hour in here just wandering (even though the shop is tiny). I did. I posted one of my favorite pictures here from Big Island artists and triathlete, Eide Hansamut.
