Last fall Four Seasons Resorts took over management of the two big resort hotels on Lanai, the Lodge at Koele and Manele Bay Hotel. Both had gotten, shall we say, a little tatty around the edges. The owner agreed to pump in $100 million to renovate the two props. The renovations for the Lodge are nearly done, scheduled to wrap up in November 2006. Expect an expanded pool and sundeck, a much better spa (still building, to be completed in 2008), and revamped dining menus. The rooms look a bit more casual than what I remember when I was there a few years ago -- which is a good thing. Colors are more neutral and soothing, the frilliness gone. The English country vibe got kinda old, particularly since you were in Hawaii. Here's a few preview pics of finished rooms.
