Hyatt%20Kauai%20Pool%20Jimg944%20Flickr.jpgThe pools at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa on Kauai are some of the best in the islands. They come in both fresh and saltwater varieties and cover a whopping 5 acres. They include multiple waterslides including a 150-foot beauty. The pools start near the lobby level and meander down over multiple levels before landing adjacent to the beach. A classic river-style layout, they include a generous smattering of waterfalls, grottoes, secluded decks for sunning, and small swimming holes. I've spent hours trolling around the pool. For families and pool hounds, its one of the best reasons to visit this resort. In fact, this is probably the best pool in the islands with the exception of the water park (it pretty much is one) at the Gran Wailea on Maui. Alas, all good pools need a scrub. So, the Hyatt Kauai is resurfacing its pools, a month-long project that started earlier this week. Here's what Expedia had on the topic.

"Work will be scheduled so that for most of this period, one of the pools and the saltwater swimming lagoon will be open 24 hours a day; both pools will be closed November 9 – 13. The waterslide will be closed November 9 – 29."

Daddy and mommy, you try to tell the kids the pool is closed. I dare you. The kicker? Completion dates subject to change. Ouch. So last minute bookers take note and those who are en route with families, caveat aqua.
