Maui Slides to #2 in Conde Nast "Most Popular Islands" Poll

The Valley Isle, the perennial holder of the top spot in CNT's annual reader poll for top islands, was displaced by the Maldives. Of course, being second best in the world is hardly something to complain about or be ashamed of. But could the slide be related to general slide in visitor satisfaction as reported in the last Hawaii Visitor and Convention Bureau annual survey? When I talk to travel editors, they often complain that Hawaii is great but has become "stale" and "complacent". Could these be related?
