Credit to Hapa Hale for spotting a killer deal at Turtle Bay, $199 per night. Not sure what this exactly buys you in terms of views, but most of the rooms at the resort have an ocean view of some sort. Regardless, Turtle Bay's setting is magnificent, on a rocky peninsula jutting out into the wave-tossed North Shore. For surfers, the timing is perfect. The deal runs through October and up to November 13. So boarders can catch some early winter juice but avoid the crowds in Country that come with the surfing pro circuit. The hiking trails at Turtle Bay are great for families -- flat and mellow. Golfing is excellent with Palmer and Fazio courses that host regular pro events. The beach on the eastern side of the hotel is also a good ocean swimming spot for kids with fairly gentle surf. Lei Lei's, a restaurant on the resort, has become a fave North Shore watering hole for the likes of Jack Johnson and Kelly Slater. Note: This is a Web-only rate so you gotta get online to book it.
