Waikiki Hotel Review: ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Pros: Not to be confused with the more upscale ResortQuest Waikiki Tower. Underwent extensive renovations several years ago. The swimming pool and common areas are very cool, kitschy Hawaiian (think Don Ho's bachelor pad). The flaming volcano above the pool deck is a nice touch. This is a mid-market hotel The rooms are decent sized though the ceiling can be wierdly low. The restaurant downstairs, Tiki's is a popular night spot for locals and visitors. It's a lot of fun. The location is good, right across from Kuhio Beach but far enough east in Waikiki to be somewhat removed from the crowds. The hotel has some nice touches, like they'll pack you a breakfast pack if you are heading out early, gratis. Close to Kapiolani Park, which has a great jogging trail and is a huge chunk of green in the middle of mostly paved Waikiki.
Cons: Rooms can be somewhat noisy. Most of the room do not have lanais and the views can be fairly limited, aside from those towards the oceanside of the hotel. The architecture is "box-on-the-beach", Service is decent but not up to standards for discerning travelers. Older folks might find this place a little too raucous, particularly with the loud music going pretty late at tikis. Room furnishings feel kinda cheap.
Bottom Line: A good place to stay if you are younger and want to party, a really fun hotel. Not really on the beach but close enough. Don't go there for a mellow stay in Waikiki,
