UPDATE: THE ENTIRE TRUMP TOWER PROJECT SOLD OUT IN A DAY. THAT'S RIGHT, ONE DAY. THIS IS NUTS!

The Donald is apparently a perfect fit for Waikiki. So far, according to this article in the Honolulu Advertiser, Trump's planned 462-unit $400 million Waikiki hotel condo project has drawn 1,500 applicants, despite the steep starting price of $450k for a 300 square-foot studio unit on a lower floor. Or perhaps because of that. The kitsch capital of Hawaii is perhaps on par with Donald in the gauche factor but its definitely headed upscale.. It's probably the only place besides Manhattan where you can hit Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Tiffany flagship stores in a single afternoon. And the Donald's new branded condo, to be managed by local hotel operator Outrigger Enterprises, will certainly add to the allure of wiki, wacky Waikiki. Some advice for the Donald, should he choose to start spending time in the islands. Sunscreen for that florid pate, my friend. And trim the toupe -- the tradewinds will wreak havoc with that sucker out here. No word on what rates will be for the hotel portion but we all are waiting with bated breath.
