Red%20White%20and%20Blue%20Shrimp.jpgThe Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are technically part of the Hawaiian Archipelago but might as well be on another planet. These tiny, low-lying islands are hundreds of miles from the main islands and are completely uninhabited, save for scads of critters. It's supposedly a thrilling place to dive and observe the naked sea. An expedition of biologists recently returned from this remote outpost with images of numerous animals that had previously never been discovered. National Geo has a nice photo gallery of images by Susan Middleton. Here's one of a newly discovered and quite lovely species, the red, white and blue shrimp.
