Taylor Steele in the House: Sipping Jetstreams Drops in on Honolulu
Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Nightlife, Oahu Culture || Tagged:
Noted surf filmmaker -- and best friend of the old-school surf pros -- Taylor Steele teamed up with hot surf photographer Dustin Humphrey for “Sipping Jetstreams.” This double-barreled effort is both a movie and a coffee-table book of the duo’s two-year journey to focus first on the culture, local people, and waves -- not necessarily in that order – in places like Morocco, Hong Kong, Italy, Egypt, Japan, Cuba and Barbados. The current stop on their promotional tour is Honolulu and the Hawaii premiere will include the screening of the film and the opportunity to purchase artwork from the book as well as copies of the tome. Expect images of a tattoo-soaked Triad member from Hong Kong, a solitary camel dwarfed by a distant, yet magnificent Egyptian pyramid and Kelly Slater surfing Barbados hotspot Soup Bowls, along with the usual ripping surf shots. Cost: $10 donation to benefit the Oahu chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and the Defend Oahu Coalition.
