I don't usually go to luaus much. They are fun but can feel kinda forced to someone who has lived in Hawaii for a while. That said, one things I LOVE at luaus is the Samoan fire dancing. This is most impressive. These dudes do all sorts of crazy manuevers while tossing one or two battons that are flaming and scary. To my knowledge, Hawaii is the only part of the country where you can actually see this on a regular basis. Here's a great video that gives you a taste. If you're a local, definitely check out the annual Samoan Fire Knife Contest at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie.
