The Maui News has a far too comprehensive rundown of New Year's Eve dinner extravaganzas on the Valley Isle. They all sound pretty good but we know that a few of them are more than pretty good. The Hawaiirama reccomendations?

The Banyan Tree Veranda at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua: Kona lobster and crusted Hawaiian snapper, seared ahi tuna alongside foie gras and apple financier with Calvados sorbet and almond tuile. This is one of only a handful of AAA Four Diamond-rated restaurants in Hawaii

David Paul's Lahaina Grill:
Am sure they have a fancy pants New Years Menu. Forget that and order the Maui onion and sesame seed crusted ahi with vanilla bean Jasmine rice, apple cider-soy butter vinaigrette. I've had this dish at least six times over the years and its one of the best entrees in the islands if not the country, period.
