There are so many places to get in the water in Hawaii that the selection becomes overwhelming, like a kid in a candy shop painted ocean blue. No worries. When I am venturing outer island or even around Oahu, I often consult Shorediving.com's clickable listings of Hawaii shorediving locations. The notes are equally useful for snorkeling sites, which, unless you take a boat, is just shore diving sans tank. Most of the locations have reviews posted by serious snorkelers or divers so its not just a list but almost a TripAdvisor or Epinions for Hawaii shore diving and snorkeling spots.
