Bonnie Friedman, the publicist for Maui's Ocean Vodka sent me note with the news that this fancy liquor made from organic grains and pure, chemical free water drawn from the deep oceans of the Big Island is now for sale online. Mainlanders in 32 states can now make the perfect Mauitini. In Waikiki, the ever vigilant Hapahale sparks out what sounds like a killer newish store Marqet. With hippy chic, enviro-friendly clothing lines (including Hawaii's own Roberta Oaks) and soothing green organic cotton t-shirts sold to benefit local charities (Kokua Foundation, Hawaii Audubon Society) as well as mainland tree-hugging couture finds, this is definitely a different
way to shop in Waikiki. Nice!
In Kailua, the husband and wife team behind Muumuu Heaven , a fab biz that recycles old muumuus and other Hawaii vintage fabric into elegant dresses and household accessories, opened up a new showroom that looks fresh, airy and lovely. Most def stop by on your next trip to my favorite Oahu beach town. As you probably read here yesterday, Lucky Jean's is opening in Waikiki on Kalakaua a stone's throw away from the posh retail condos housing Tiffany's and Tod's.
