Maui Restaurants: Vino on Maui Closing in June -- Expect High Prices for Maui High-End Rooms

D.K. Kodama's saucy wine bar / Italian rustic foodie joint on the Valley Isle will shutter in June as the Kapalua Resort undergoes massive renovations to Kapalua Village Golf Course, the Ritz-Carlton (closing for six months), and the Kapalua Bay Hotel (which has been demolished and will be replaced by a far less soulful, far more lucrative timeshare property. All told, this means that the entire Kapalua hotel inventory is gone, leaving only Wailea properties (the Four Seasons, the Grand Wailea, and the Kea Lani) and the Hotel Hana-Maui in the superluxe category for Maui. The upshot? Expect higher prices in upcoming months on Maui among the super luxe palaces with fewer incentive deals and probably tighter occupancy. I am unclear as to whether Kodama will also close his Kapalua Sansei sushi bar, one of the best places to chill on Maui and the flagship of his multi-island sushi chain.
