Hawaii Restaurants: A Food Miser Fellow Blogger Weighs in On Ballyhooed Cassis

Chef Mavro caters to the foodie crowd, the crazy folks who throw down serious coin for upscale chow. Ian Lind prefers dirt cheap Thai food. Which makes his review particularly interesting, as he's enticed to eat at Cassis, Mavro's new "downmarket" place. Downmarket, meaning lunch plates for $25 (granted, these are full plates). In short, Ian probably won't be going back. My view is to give the kitchen a chance to warm up -- they've only been open two weeks and Ben Takahashi (who is the head chef there, working under Mavro) needs a bit of time to hit his stride. Still, I can't wait to get down there and sample myself, though I suspect my reaction will be different.
