Well, of course it was. I've blogged about the refined pleasures of the Lewers Lounge on several occasions and in more than one blog. I'm glad to see the folks at Esquire agree with me. Of course, there are a host of other quite stellar bars around Honolulu and the islands. (Caveat -- I am fairly certain the Lewers Lounge does serve up some of the best cocktails in the islands). If you like the Lewer's Lounge, check out the Cobalt Bar at the Hanohano Room and its exotic martini menu. A bit more sleek, James Bondesque but a fine boite. Indigo is a downtown clubesque joint but open air and Balinesian themed, more akin to a wonderful opium den full of winsome youths. Uncle Bo's in the up and coming Kapahulu nabe near Waikiki is cool, crisp and totally cosmo with an Asian flair thanks to its Laotian owner / chef. So you see, it's not a one note town.
