I often don't agree with what Gail Jennings at Hawaii Diner has to say but I love reading her stuff anyway. Here she gives us a sneak peak at the new Roy's at Waikiki Beach Walk. This is a "Mock" dinner, meaning, a trial run. So you get some cool inside stuff not found in the usual food reviews. One thing I will say. The Tiki Hut thing at the front door is so 1960s. Which is kinda cool but kinda not, too. Another quick thing. I'm surprised they put onaga on the opening menu, considering the bottom-fishing ban now in effect. That means the only onaga you'll get at Roy's is frozen (from elsewhere in the world or the distant Northwest Hawaiian Islands). Caveat diner.
