Hawaii Clubs: 39Hotel Reloads, Renovates

The Honolulu Advertiser takes a walk through of the newly redone 39Hotel, one of the coolest clubs in Honolulu and a key player in the hopping downtown / Chinatown bar scene. A gallery by day, 39Hotel morphs into an airy aerie for the nocturnally inclined with a sliver view of the Honolulu skyline, a huge white wall for psychedelic light shows and movie projections, and a stiff hand made ginger-infused vodka. The club now has table service throughout and a raised deck, all improvements from earlier, cruder iterations. 39Hotel is the third-player in the fabled downtown troika, Bar35, and NextDoor. For audiophiles, this may be the best DJ spot in town and it got even batter thanks to the acquisition of some vintage Klipsch extra-warm and funky speakers purchased (on EBay?) that were used by influential 70s NYC DJ Richard Mancuso. Better still, to feed that crave the club will now serve Persian style kebabs, its first food offering. For those who want a mellow, outdoor pre-club hang, the deck in the early evening hours should be quite spectacular.
