Apparently not. The latest Nobu, located at the newly hipified (as opposed to hippified) Waikiki Parc, has been hopping. My friends who have eaten there have said that the food is excellent, albeit a bit dated (meaning, we've have the miso cod thing here for over a decade - in Hawaii they call it butterfish). Pictured here -- scallop tiradito, Nobu style. My foodie friends say service is flawless and there are some novel preparations. I also have a friend on the inside who assures me the chef is just warming up and that new plates with nods to Hawaii culinary themes made with more local seafood are in the wings. In a nutshell, eating there now is good. But you may want to wait a month or so until the Hawaii-themed plates come out for a more local and fresh luxe munch.
