My friends at OpenRoad TV have a number of excellent Hawaii travel videos on offer for free (as in beer) at their site and I'm pointing to a few of them. This one takes you into Waipio Valley, the massive, mystical amphitheater valley on the rainy Hamakua Coast of the Big Island. Waipio is an impressive please -- I've hiked there several times. And Hi'ilawe Falls, if you can hike it in (as I did years back) is perhaps one of the most amazing waterfall hikes on the planet. Doug McConnell, host of OpenRoad TV, does a good job capturing the magic of this isolated valley filled with cataracts, taro patches, and echoes of a bygone but still spirtually alive era when King Kamehameha, the greatest of Hawaiian monarchs, made Waipio his home.
