Val Ossipoff Retrospective at the Academy
Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Culture || Tagged:
Vladimir Ossipoff was Hawaii's Frank Lloyd Wright. A modernist that broke from the old architectural set. His homes are now classics. Extremely clean lines playing up the massive views and natural beauty of Hawaii. Not very easy for visitors to see because most if not all are private dwellings and not open to the public. We looked at purchasing one of his homes on Wilhelmina Rise. Too expensive but what a walk through. Definitely worth a look.
NOTE: the show actually has its own mini-site. And there is a free lecture / panel discussion that's part of the show on Dec. 1 at the Doris Duke Theatre in the Academy.

The catalog is really a must-have book, published by Yale University Press. Perfect gift for the design-wise person on your list. Available in the museum’s Academy Shop.
