Bad boy chef Anthony Bourdain airdropped into Honolulu to tape a segment of "No Reservations." The Honolulu Star-Bulletin's Betty Shimabukuro gots the goods and chatted with Big Tony as he chowed down on Colin Nishida's choice grinds at Side Street Inn, the-off-the-beaten-path chef's haunt in the shadow of Ala Moana Shopping Center. I do love Side Street and Chef Colin's fab pork chops, kimchee fried rice, and super solid fish preparations. Bourdain got to eat Chinese style sashimi seared with peanut oil, a delicacy often not on the menu. You go, Tony!

Hi Alex:
Guess who was asked to be one of his tour guides? I had to talk about Spam of all things. Here’s some of my experiences that I wrote about on my new blog: http://chooonthis.blogspot.com/

I felt Colin Nishida showed his ignorance of history by equating plantation workers with “slaves.” Talk about offensive.
