Gotta love this one. Destination Resorts Hawaii, which has a collection of condos and vacation rentals in Maui, is offering a low-low rate of $90 per person per night for a mystery accommodation on Maui. As in, they won't tell you where you are going to stay until you get there, or at least until after you've already paid for the room -- kinda like the old Priceline. Ah, but it's not as good as it sounds. First, DRH accomodations are mostly condos that many vacationers would use to sleep three, and so the $180 per night rate is not always so great. Secondly, on Maui, DRH only has choices in Wailea and Makena, the posh Southeast outpost. Since there aren't *that* many condos down there and they tend to be somewhat similar, there isn't really that much mystery here. Then again. give them credit for trying to drum it up. On the other hand, I'm kinda mystified as to why they even need promos this spring, considering that Maui's total room inventory for FITs and rentals has been decimated by a county crackdown on B&B and vacation rentals.
