Vera Wang Shop to Shutter: Bummer
Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Shopping || Tagged:
Pacific Business News reports that the really nifty Vera Wang brand shop , one of the signature shops at the posh Halekulani is going to shutter after the designer shut down here signature jewelry line, which as one of the only exclusive offerings of the shop. They are going to liquidate, which could mean one heck of a sale, particularly on jewelry for reasons outlined below. I feel a little lousy, as I've hit the sale rack there hard (cashmere, anyone?) but rarely paid full price. So peeps like me probably contributed. Regardless, its probably not a great loss. Vera's star is clearly on the wane -- what with her wares appearing at Macy's and other hoi polloi places and her nighties now on offer seemingly everywhere.
I wonder what this will mean for the signature suite of same name at the Halekulani? It was uber posh when it opened a couple of years ago. And where will guests be able to buy all the things in the room -- flatware, plates, glasses, you name it, all part of Wang's world. Will it quickly become ho hum? Man, you gotta move fast to stay ahead of the celeb designer set. So, anyone want to suggest who should be the designer tapped for the Vera Wang Suite makeover? Calling Carson Kressley!

I suggest the CostCo or Wal-Mart suite. Heck, why not an entire hotel catering to the “hoi polloi?”
