Another edition of our rarely updated food update. Sorry, folks. Here we go. The Star-Bulletin chews over a chewy, gravy-like version of ramen with chicken broth sauce thickened by chicken bone and cartilage. Um, yum? Not sure I could stomach that one but check out Tenkaippin on Kapahulu Ave. Ono Kine Grindz blogs on mochi creams available at Shirokiya, a foodie must and one of the 100 must-eat experiences in 2008 according to the folks at Food & Wine. Lesa Griffith, who used to work at the Honolulu Advetiser (and blogs here) is back doing food reviews for them again, this time a new Thai joint in Kaakako called Ploi. She liked it. John Heckathorn takes a romp around new eateries and old faves with new twists on Big Island -- an excellent guide of where to eat for modernist foodies. Maui Magazine gives you three easy to follow picnic itineraries that will blow gourmands away but also suit blue collar folks (well, in some cases). You a foodie? Post thoughts - notes here and help us all eat good.
