The much maligned Superferry has had its fare share of problems. First, there was the surfboard flotilla protest. Then came the court mandated stoppages. Then came the resumption of passages but with extreme seasickness (crew members were handing out barf bags and roughly 1/4 of passengers succumbed). Rough weather has forced mutliple cancellations. Fear not, intrepid travelers. Two Maui residents have concocted a Barf-o-Meter based on National Weather Service forecasts of wave heights, winds, and swell periods (also based on the Beaufort Scale). It's applicable to all sea travel but seems particularly useful for the Hawaii Superferry. Now if I could only find where they are posting.this online so I can check before I book.
