Tasty Island is one of my favorite local food blogs. I only wish they would post more. Here they pull a fully contrarian review, dressing down the Rainbow Drive In surf diner for sub-par loco moco (a Hawaii staple,, a cardiologists dream and Rainbow's official calling card). Loco moco is eggs, hamburgers and rice topped with brown gravy. Um, someone call the CEO of Wendy's and get him to turn it into a burger. At any rate, I have never eaten it -- loco moco just sounded too gross to me. But here's an extremely solid photo-blog and review of the joint. Eh, anyone out there got thoughts on Rainbow? I absolutely love this place. I used to live in hawaii a few years ago and my dad would always take me here. I would always get the Mahi Mahi Plate with extra macaroni salad. My fiance and I will be getting married on Oahu next year, and this is definitely one of the places we’ll be eating at then we’ll make a stop at Leonard’ Bakery, for some Malasadas.
