I'm mobile posting from the Side Street Inn, a favorite sports bar / dive bar that is the closest thing to Momofuku Noodle Bar that Honolulu has. Food. Reminder -- this post is sponsored by Microsoft and I put it together on the go. In fact, I am sitting at the bar watching the basketball highlights, slurping down a plate of ahi poke and looking forward to a plate of supremely delicious pork chops (pan fried, no doubt). Side Street has been around for a decade now, I think, but its still hard to get a table -- even on a Sunday night. Ergo, camping out at the bar. It's one of those paradoxical places that some manages to keep prices ridiculously low and food quality amazingly high. Any local fish bought here is simply amazing. The salads have these super juicy local tomatoes and crispy local lettuce. Dessert and mixed drinks leave a lot to be desired but the wine list is quite good and they have choke beers. So thanks to Microsoft for sponsoring Hawaiirama and props to Redmond for underwriting my poke habit. Cheers, y'all!
