Microsoft Mobile Post from Sandy Beach Sunday: Hawaii's Best Beaches

Where: Oahu || Grouped in: Oahu Nature || Tagged:

I'm blogging live from Sandy Beach, Oahu, a stunning little crescent usually pummeled by massive shore break (enough to make it dangerous) on the Southeast corner of this island. This post is sponsored Microsoft as part of its Mobile Post campaign, and a great way to post on the go. Thanks, Microsoft. So, back to the beach. It's remarkably calm here, probably due to the Kona weather (means prevailing winds are reversed) and actually almost swimmable. Sandy Beach is one of the few stretches of Oahu coastline that is gorgeous, accessible and totally undeveloped (there are other such places but much harder to get to). I may try to upload a picture to this post a bit later -- the blogging software is not to happy about an image upload right now. The beach at Sandy has somewhat coarse sandy but its a great shade of burnt yellow. The water offshore is shockingly blue with multiple hues. And when the surf is up, even if you don't swim, it's one of the best bodyboarding venues around (and a great place to watch people get totally tossed). The guide books don't do it justice so make sure to stop at least for a few hear when you're traveling around the island.
