Like most big kids, I dig aquariums. I spend a lot of my spare time in the water so any chance I get to learn about or see up close the sea life native to my nautical haunts is a good thing. Natch, on this Maui trip (doh -- this is a Microsoft Mobile Post -- see that icon up top? Means I'm posting mobile) we hit the Maui Ocean Center.

It's definitely not the biggest aquarium around but the exhibits are top notch and focused on sea life in Hawaii including monk seals, humpback whales, all manner of fish, and some excellent interpretive exhibits on how ancient Native Hawaiians interacted and lived with the ocean. The touch pool is very cool as is the turtle pond where you can see sea turtles noshing. The highlight, of course, is the massive acrylic shark tunnel where you can glimpse a 10-foot tiger shark, one of the few on display in captivity. A noble beast, no doubt, pictured here.
