Eat Like a Local: Hawaii Fresh Produce Proviso
Where: Statewide || Grouped in: Statewide Food || Tagged:
A lot more stuff is grown in Hawaii than people might realize. Sure, we got papayas and pineapples but other local crops include strawberries, cukes, tomatoes, and melons. And they are onolicious. I was stoked to find this poster put out by the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture that shows local crops and the peak seasons for buying them in the stores. Now if only we could get more cherimoyas going on. This is downloadable so if you are coming to visit Hawaii and want to be a locavore on vacation, mo' bettah.
