The good folks over at Maui Time Weekly lay out the top 5 plate lunch palaces on the Valley Isle. I have been to Hana Hou in Haiku and can tell you its a superb plate. For the uninitiated, plate lunch is a uniquely Hawaii thing that usually includes a hefty portion of meat (usually pork), at least two forms of starch (mac salad, white rice, or chicken long rice), a dish wrapped in banana of ti leaf (laulau of some sort) and lomilomi salmon (which is basically a salty version of seviche using salmon -- oddly, a fish that is not caught native in Hawaii but become familiar to locals in post-contact days).
