Chef Jojo Vasquez who kicked the kitchen of the Banyan Tree on Maui in Kapalua Resort up several notches left over a month ago to open a new resto on Oahu with a famous Iron Chef competition winner. Sayonara, Jojo. Maui will miss you. Ironic, as he just won a boatload of awards from Maui No Ka Oi Magazine.

Actually, Jojo won that boatload of awards two years ago. The story you linked to is from 2006! A brand new story featuring Jojo’s foray into molecular gastronomy is about to hit the stands however. Check it out September 1st. And yes, Jojo is heading over to Oahu where you can expect some Iron Chef-inspired fireworks. Sad for us on Maui, lucky for you guys!
