Love, love, love this hotel. Paia is the un-Maui vacation, with no big hotels, small town feel, vagabond windsurfers cruising through and oceans galore. Paia Inn is walkable to beaches, boutiques and great eats -- and is chic as can be. Private beach access is a misnomer because there are no private beaches in Hawaii and all are fairly accessible. But the location is solid and the vibe is totally North Shore. Go in the winter to see the big surf and don't bother plugging in your iPhone or your Blackberry.
