About

Hawaiirama is a visual guide to the islands of Hawaii curated and created by Alex Salkever, a long-time journalist and travel writer who lived in Hawaii for nearly two decades and, during that tenure, came to love many things about this remote paradise. Hawaiirama existed for five years as a straight blog but in its new iteration the site has changed its look, feel and mission. Plainly put, Hawaiirama seeks to deliver breathtaking imagery from Hawaii accompanied by simple, pithy articles that together provide a curated guide to what’s cool, interesting, beautiful, and worthwhile in the islands. Hawaiirama is not for visitors or for tourists. Rather, it is for anyone and everyone who loves the islands and wants to learn more about them in the most visually arresting way possible without actually being there. We also strive to make Hawaiirama the equivalent of a “Patagonia Catalog” for the islands, a unique collection of images and information that feeds the senses and fuels the imagination.
