Hawaii’s Most Amazingly Beautiful Golf Holes: Poipu Bay Course, 16th Hole
Just wow. No wonder the PGA Grand Slam took place here from 1994 through 2006. The views down the fairway of this stunning hole are enough to make you drop your Mai Tai and your toss your clubs in the ocean. Not surprisingly, the 16th is considered Poipu Bay’s “Signature Hole”. It won the auspicious nickname the “the Pebble Beach of the Pacific” from famed golf course designer Robert Trent Jones. The hole has a long run along the rugged Poipu coastline along Kauai’s souther shore. At a whopping 501 yards from tee to cup, the 16th is the longest par 4 on the course and one of the most expansive in the state. So, here’s the list of challenges. Play downhill? Check. Lake combined with two bunkers? Check. Sheer cliff dropping off into the mulligan-proof Pacific? Righto. Consider yourself lucky to par out on this monster – but definitely take your time to enjoy the walk or the ride.
