The culture of the islands is rich and varied, with traditions from all its major population groups coming together to form a cultural hybrid we call “local.” Native Hawaiian culture by itself is an incredibly rich vein, from hula dancing to kapa cloth pounding to ethnobotany. Add in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino and South Pacific Islander music, food, holidays, and traditions and you get a total mixed-plate culture.
