In the half-abandoned but still hip Hanapepe Town on the West Side of Kauai, the Banana Patch studio is a bright burst of color and brilliant custom ceramic tiles bedecked with images of Hawaii. The florals are my fave but others may include hula dancers, fruits or honu (turtles). Pictured here – the red hibiscus tile that so many locals in Hawaii have hanging up in their kitchens or on their doorways.
